A hundred years ago, Home Comfort kitchen ranges were sold door to door by Home Comfort salesmen. They’d set up the stove in a potential customer’s home and demonstrate the efficiency and functions of the stove. This model was the top-of-the-line Home Comfort range. It is not possible to overstate the commanding and handsome disposition of the stove proud. Its many convenient features are literally framed in nickel decoration: bun warming compartments, large oven, ash clean out areas, draft controls and towel bars. The Home Comfort name and manufacturer’s name, Wrought Iron Stove & Range Co. located in St. Louis Missouri, are emblazoned on nickel plates attached to the front of the stove for all visitors to see. The two warming spaces rest above a stove top with six cook lids. The stove also serves as a heater and provides a comfortable warmth to the kitchen. A storage drawer is located below the oven. The exceptional quality of the Home Comfort kitchen range certainly made the salesman’s job a whole lot easier.
